BPC Band at Sunday's 47th Annual Solano Stroll! Tribute to Rich Armstrong 2023

Huge congratulations go out to the BPC Band for a rousing performance at yesterday’s Solano Stroll! The band opened with their signature “Second Line” as they paraded to the stage. They followed this with Jame Brown's "Pass the Peas" and "Gimme Some More," proving beyond any doubt that the BPC Band can lay down the funk! The band performed classic songs by Herbie Hancock, “Chameleon” and “Watermelon Man” as bassist Mila Battsen (7th) and Calista Batcher (6th) gave it their all. The band was joined by Bay Area vocalist Keysha Bradford singing the Amy Winehouse classic “Valerie.” Mr. Kennedy chimed in with a Meters classic “Hey Pocky A-Way” and gave the crowd a history lesson with the Stevie Wonder song "Black Man."

The two-hour performance was capped off with a dedication to former Bay Area trumpeter and educator Rich Armstrong who passed away suddenly last year. The band performed Riche's arrangement of “Disco Songs,” which they named the “Disco Medley.” It was a very memorable event and a special performance by the band.
